It’s hard to believe that 2025 is just around the corner!Earlier this week, we sat down at the cutest little coffee shop for the day to plan out our 2025 year. We looked at what we’d like to do more of, where we want to focus our efforts and reflected on what didn’t work out so well.

Charlene and Julie – Yearly Planning at a Cute Local Coffee Shop

One item that came up in discussion was our newsletter. We’ll be the first to admit that we have struggled with getting it out on a regular basis. Creating informative and engaging content can feel daunting. But we’ve identified these newsletters as a top priority. And now that we’ve put that in writing, we have to deliver!

Key Blogs/Newsletters from 2024

Infant Feeding Guidelines – Are Changes on the Way?

In October 2023, WHO published new Infant Feeding Guidelines. In this blog, we chose two controversial points from these guidelines to share our thoughts on. Specifically, the recommendation that cow’s milk could be considered at 6 months and the de-emphasis of iron-fortified cereal. Check out the full blog HERE.

Nutrition Counselling Strategies for Infant Allergy Clients – Where to Start?

There are many nuances with infant allergy patients to consider. With this blog, we discuss understanding the importance of understanding the full history, the advice previously provided and decisions the family has made up until this point in time. Read more about counselling strategies for these families HERE.

Painful Math – Deciphering Infant Formula Recipes

Dietitian Math! If you’ve worked with infants who have medical issues, you’ve had to work out different formula concentration recipes. This blog takes you step-by-step through an infant feed concentration example. Check it out HERE.

New Webinar Series & Workshops Added in 2024

This was our most productive year to date! We added two new webinar series and something completely new for us, a “dietitian math” workshop.

Picky Eating Series 2024 – Four Different Lenses

Delivered live and now available in a recorded format, we had four expert picky eating speakers share a wealth of knowledge:

  • Maude Perreault, PhD, RD – Who’s Feeding the Kids? Diverse Families and Complex Feeding Dynamics
  • Natalia Stasenko, MS, RD – From Typical Eating to ARFID – Selection of Case Studies
  • Jill Rabin, M.S., CCC-SLP/L., IBCLC – Use of Responsive and Child-Directed Feeding Methods for Picky Eating in Medically Complex Babies and Toddler
  • Rosanne Robinson, RD and Cara Kasdorf, RD, BSc (HNS) M.A.N. – Picky Eating in Young Athletes

Are you going to be with your in-laws for a week straight over the holidays and need to “get some work done”? Why not give yourself the gift of knowledge while also checking off those continuing education boxes? Check out the details HERE.

Enteral Nutrition Series 2024: Mastering Initiating, Weaning, Blending and Tube Site Challenges

We’ve both been involved with so many tube fed patients over our career and were really proud to offer this enteral feeding series which highlighted some key points that both newbies and experts struggle with. Again, we had 4 speakers present live and it is now available in a recorded format:

  • Katherine Bennett , MPH, RD, CLEC – Initiating & Monitoring Enteral Nutrition in the Pediatric Patient
  • Dr. Julie Johnstone, MD (FRCPC), MScCH – Want Tubie an Expert? Developing Expertise in Pediatric Enteral Tube Weaning
  • Hilarie Geurink, RD, CSP – Mastering the Blend: Empowering Patients to Thrive on Tube Feeds
  • Cynthia Reddick, RD, CNSC – Tiny Tummies, Big Triumphs: Troubleshooting Pediatric Enteral Tube Site Challenges

Maybe it’s day 7.5 of the winter break and your kids have asked you to watch the new Frozen movie for the 4th time? If you work with kids with tubes (or want to), this series could be just what you need! More details on this series are available HERE.

Dietitian Math – Infant Feed Concentration Workshop

This one was something completely different for us! It goes through old school, pencil and paper math – the type you need to do on the fly when creating and deciphering recipes for families.

Math isn’t your thing? You don’t have many opportunities to practice infant feed math? Check out all the details on this workshop HERE.
