About Us
We are Charlene Kennedy and Julie Larocque, both pediatric dietitians who met over 15 years ago, working at our local children’s hospital (CHEO) and sharing an office.
We noticed we were getting many calls from dietitians working in the community, in private practice, or in rural hospitals, looking for mentorship and guidance. They were often on their own with no other pediatric dietitian to discuss cases with or new to pediatrics entirely. Unfortunately, we felt that we could not help these dietitians as much as we hoped to. We had our own caseload to manage and time was the limiting factor.
And that’s how the idea for Nutrition Masterclass was formed. An online platform that would offer virtual support in pediatric nutrition for dietitians worldwide. Our first course landed in 2019 and it’s been a whirlwind since!
Julie’s passion is pediatric intensive care and inpatient complex care medicine. Charlene’s niche was seeing high risk and complex newborns in their home, followed by an eventual transition to pediatric private practice.
Credentialed in both Canada and the US, we are the instructors for our flagship course, Infant Nutrition Essentials, and for many free webinars we offer. We draw upon our 35+ years of combined experience in pediatric clinical, community and private practice settings, where we still work to this day.
But we cannot be experts in everything, which is why we are always bringing in guest experts on various hot topics. Our goal is to provide you with the tools you need to increase your confidence with this vulnerable population and provide families with advice that makes a difference.
