Back to Basics - Best Practices in Infant Feeding

Free Webinar

If you're a dietitian new to working with infants, or a dietitian who WANTS to work with infants (totally doable by the way!), you need to know and understand the best practices when it comes to infant feeding.

Having a sound understanding of the foundation of nutrition in healthy term infants is key before you dive into more complicated cases and diagnoses.

Join us for the case of baby Sam, where we’ll walk you through the first 12 months, highlighting evidenced-based recommendations and red flags for:

  • breastfeeding and/or formula feeding
  • allergy prevention
  • complimentary food introduction
  • strategies to optimize texture progression
  • when and how to transition to milk

This webinar is for you if:

✔️ You are a newbie dietitian with limited prior exposure to infant nutrition

✔️ You are a master dietitian transitioning from adult care to infants

✔️ You lack training and/or access to experienced pediatric dietitians

❌ This webinar is not for you if you're a seasoned pediatric dietitian BUT, we do encourage you to share with new colleagues and dietetic interns!

➡ We'll go through the latest evidence on how to guide families with infants at high risk of developing food allergies, from breastfeeding to formula to complementary food introduction

3) Initial Complimentary Food Considerations

➡ We walk through readiness and key developmental milestones to start complimentary foods, the order of introduction - is this still a practice? - and how to balance liquids and solids

4) Optimizing Complementary Foods

➡ We help you to guide families through texture progression with a review of baby led weaning versus purees, responsive feeding, division of responsibility and how to identify important red flags

5) When to Transition to Milk

➡ We go over the evidence on length of breastfeeding and/or formula feeding, how to transition to milk and we address special considerations when families wish to transition to plant-based beverages
